Are You Properly Piped?
If your oil tank is indoors, and your fill pipe is not up to the Fire
Marshall's code, you're taking risks with your home.
If you don't have a signal alarm, your delivery person can't
prevent over filling. If your fill-pipe's vent is too small, you risk
getting inaccurate deliveries. We'd like to help you fix it up right.
What the law says Your pipe must be made of steel. It must have a properly
sized air vent and signal alarm (or whistle). If you have recently removed a tank anywhere on your
property, you must remove all piping as well, so that the delivery person
does not mistake it for one that is in use.
What you can do about it We want all of our customers to comply with the law. It's
easy, inexpensive, and can prevent big problems later. We can give you advice and guidance to make sure that you do
it right. We can supply you with the pipe and fittings. If you don't wish to
do it yourself, we can recommend a reputable contractor, who can take care
of everything.
Check your status Recently our drivers checked all of our customers' fill-pipes
to see if they comply with state regulations. If you're not sure about
yours, call us. |
